MERCHANT OF VENICE 2022
The return match for The Merchant of Venice Cup was an exceptional experience involving 24 players (12 players per country) from England and Italy playing match play golf over two days.
AN EXCEPTIONAL TWO-DAY EXPERIENCE
The Merchant of Venice Cup in Veneto Italy was an unforgettable experience. Postponed from 2020 due to Covid, it was certainly worth the wait.
THURSDAY 9TH JUNE – HOTEL COLOMBO
It kicked off with a Ryder cup style welcome reception drinks and team introduction at the Hotel Colombo roof top pool in Jesolo. There was great camaraderie ahead of impending competition and hostilities in the friendliest way possible.
FRIDAY 10TH JUNE – GOLF CLUB VILLA CONDULMER – FOURSOMES
The match kicked off at the excellent Golf club Villa Condulmer, renowned for elegance, tradition and excitement. It did not disappoint.
The foursome’s match was competitive, played in good spirit and exceptional friendliness.
The Italians won 5 -1 to lead on the first day. The team thereafter had lunch together in beautiful Italian sunshine and in the magnificent clubhouse setting.
The course was well set up and the day well organized. Thanks to the incredible Katia and exceptional Andrea!!
FRIDAY 10TH JUNE – VENICE BOAT TRIP
In the evening the teams enjoyed a curated boat trip round the Venice islands with food, drinks, music and great camaraderie.

11 JUNE 2022 – GOLF CLUB JESOLO – FOURBALLS
Following the heavy lead gained by the Italians on Friday, the English team was determined to evoke another miracle of Medinah.
The teams looked the part again and promptly delivered a feast of competitive golf at the magnificently set up Golf club Jesolo course.

The brilliant Italians stood their ground and won, to keep the Claret jug cup for another year.

The teams had lunch and drinks together in a truly friendly atmosphere. The food and organization was excellent thanks to Amin and of course the entire team at Golf club Jesolo.

11 JUNE – GALA NIGHT AT GJV
The event was crowned with by Gala Night hosted at the magnificent GJV restaurant in Jesolo. Everyone dressed up for the occasion and looked the part!
The players enjoyed a welcome buffet followed by a 3 courses of brilliant Italian seafood cuisine with live music by the UK based soul artist “the sensational “Paris Ruel” and the Italian keyboard genius Arno Barzan. They took the experience to another level.
